Shade sails are an alternative and modern type of outdoor shading, providing both shade and roofing. They are made of perforated HDPE polyethylene fabric with high resistance to water and harsh weather conditions. The fabric’s anchor points are usually attached to metal elements or masonry. Designed in rectangular, triangular and trapezoidal shapes, they form those characteristic angles at the points bound on the fixed elements.
They are often used in commercial spaces such as outdoor cafes, restaurants, and public spaces, but they can also be used in residential areas to create covered outdoor living spaces or car parking areas. Because of the design achieved with the tensioned sails, they are also known as “architectural sails”.
